Break away from typical plot formula

This week we are going to be focused on story structure.  Sounds fun, right!  It can be if you take a little effort to break away from the norm and get creative a little.  Remember this is creative writing, not follow a formula writing.

What I mean by this is the importance the English language has put on plot over the centuries has been diluted into formulas.  Ask any creative writing class what is most important in a story, short story or otherwise, and inevitably one will spout "Plot".

"And what is plot," the Teacher will ask.

"The beginning, middle and end!" the jubilant student will cry.

However, this plot structure of beginning, middle and end is just the most common form of plot, one any writer can pull off with little effort.  However there have been many who have skirted this formula and done so quite successfully such as Quinton Tarantino.  Does Pulp Fiction have a standard beginning middle and end?  What about Kill Bill.

Creative Writing Prompt: Write a story which breaks away from the typical formula of beginning, middle and end.  You can write a story which skips the beginning altogether and consists of a middle and end, leaving clues along the way as to how the beginning took place.  Or you can try to write what is called a "collage" story which is essentially a series of scenes of importance which carry little in the way of moving action.  A third option would be to begin at the end, move on to the beginning and end in the middle, or some other variation of plot reorganization.
